Conference Hall in Via Santa Cecilia, Milan
Scalfari, Eugenio
Carandini, Nicolò
This project is an extraordinary example of how to design an interior in just twelve days (unfortunately, though, it no longer exists).
Magistretti was asked to turn an irregular-shaped, unadorned hall into a conference hall; he used poplar plywood panelling for the shaped backdrop of the stage (divided into three sloping planes); he also used plywood to build the platform and side panels of the hall since this kind of wood improves the acoustics.
The lighting system includes a series of visible electric wires hanging from the ceiling and hemispherical black steel lights.
Although it was a small, inexpensive project, Magistretti studied it extensively, drawing numerous sketches and tables in order to find the correct solution vis-à-vis the size of the existing hall.
