Samarcanda
Samarcanda and Distesa, both designed in 2001, play on the element of the wheels and of the ease of transport. The easy chair, as in the Chaise, Chaise Longue or Bergere models, is fitted with rear casters and a comfortable footrest. Magistretti's research into this type of chair sparked his inventiveness for a new seating typology, as it happened with the Campeggi manufacturing company, for which he designed several objects characterised by their transformability: Kenia (1995) is a foldable armchair with two handlebars that allude at its transportability; Ospite (1996) is a foldable bed; Africa is a foldable chair in fabric with the flap that makes up the headrest and a thin aluminium tube frame.
