Davis was conceived to add a chair of Vico Magistretti's own design to the series of office furniture that ICF De Padova already produced for him. It features design characteristics that make its use both for work spaces and household environments perfectly in line with its image. In actual fact, the upholstered seat is mounted on a star-shaped base in the office version or on a wood structure in the household series. The 5-star aluminium alloy base of the swivel armchair, reclinable and adjustable in height, and the steel tube armrests are all covered with a black polyamide resin. The upholstered part consists of matching seat and backrest that can produce a whole range of different ergonomically appropriate inclinations, adaptable to any type of seating arrangement. The design corresponds to a regular geometric sign. The upholstery can either be in leather or in softly folding fabric. The Davis Living home version, in addition to the office model, comes with two-or three-seater sofas. In 1987, the series was enriched with a new version (Davis Teatro) dedicated to entertainment halls, composed of single or interconnected pull-down seats. In 1992, pursuant to EEC regulations, the Davis armchair was modified: in the new Davis 2 version, the upholstery of the seat and backrest is split and separately reclinable. The introduction of the gas-lift system, in addition to having a relaxing rocking effect, makes it possible to block the position and the forward rocking movement chosen by moving one's barycentre. The black or chromed armrests are attached under the seat shell and the top part is upholstered in fabric or leather. The seat and backrest have webbed metal frame cold-foamed at different densities.
