As Magistretti quite rightly said, the Impiccato lamp, present in the Artemide catalogue since 1972, arises from the need to solve an atypical problem in the configuration of the interior of homes: "Usually, in the dining room, the electrical outlet for the lamp is in the middle of the room, so if you want to place your table in a corner you're done for."

The lamp consists of a tube that runs parallel to the ceiling to which a counterweight and the diffuser of the lamp is hung so as to easily change the position of the lamp and thus give ample leeway as to where to place the furniture, and especially the table. Also adjustable in height, the Impiccato lamp, as other famous precursors (Arco lamp by Castiglioni, 1962), supersedes the rigidity imposed by classical suspended lamps while maintaining its functionality intact.
